Ideas...
Cook or bake something and then photograph it! Take a photo of someone eating something delicious! Visit a shop where they sell you favourite food and take some photos...

Who can enter:
All Kids aged up to 14 years... if you are old enough to hold the camera and click, then you can join in KidsClick.

It was fun getting to see all your lovely faces at KidsClick this week! What a handsome/beautiful bunch you all are!
There were some great self-portraits, where people had put in lots of effort to be creative, which is awesome to see. I'm sure that made it really tricky for the judges to pick a winner... in my mind you are all winners for putting in such a good effort :)
But we have to choose just ONE each... so lets dim the lights and get to the results....


Judge #1:
Little Man, from Iowa, USA (age 10)
Little Man was one of last weeks' winners, with his yucky photo of a mouldy strawberry. Little Man has chosen:

This is Me, Mario, by Mario, age 5 from Auckland New Zealand

Mario's picture is especially bright and clear and sharp. The colours are lovely. This was one of my personal favourites too, so great choice, Little Man! Mario gets to be a judge next time, well done Mario! Your picture is wonderful :)

Little Man didn't choose a runner up so I have picked one for him:

This is Maddy, by Maddy, Age 13, from Brisbane, Australia.

I loved the reflection in Maddy's sunglasses, and the bright green grass behind her. This was one of my favourite pictures. (If for some reason one of our judges can't judge, then Maddy will step in as judge next time; a bit like at the Miss Universe pageant eh??!)

Well done Tyrese. It's a lovely smiley photo of you and your little sister :)
(Amelie didn't pick a runner up either, so we will just have one runner up this week, Maddy)

Which means that our two winners (and next time's judges) are Mario and Tyrese. Well done!

MY PICK: This Week for Outstanding Photo, I have chosen:

This is Me, by Aiden, age 7, from Vancouver, Canada.

I really love the way Aiden's freckles are so sharp but the rest of him is blurry. I like the funny mustache and the light. This photo was definitely outstanding for me.

This was suggested by Lucy, from Frog Goose and Bear. She had some great suggestions for themes and I love the idea of doing a green theme. It's a theme with a twist!

Our third competition theme is underway... this week it's all about YOU, with our theme:

"This is Me"

You need to find a way to take a photo of yourself in a way that tells us something about what kind of person you are, or what kind of things you are into etc.

Tricky?? Not really :)

My kids are always taking pictures of themselves by turning the camera around and taking self portraits; lots of them turn out really great! Then there's always the mirror - take a picture of yourself in a mirror (or two, or three)...

Another way might require mum or dad's help: set the camera on self-timer and then jump around in front of it!

What will your picture tell us about you?? What will you wear? a hat? facepaint? your favourite outfit? Pulling a silly face? Showing us your new tooth? Sitting on your bike? Use your imagination... We can't wait to meet you!

JUDGES SHOULD BE LOOKING FOR:

• An interesting or clever photo
• Something different or unusual
• A picture where the photographer has tried to be creative

You have TWO WEEKS to take your picture and join in.

KidsClick: New Website!!!

The idea for KidsClick started as boredom - my kids' boredom that is, not mine.

They were whingeing after school, so I dragged them out on their bikes and sent them on a Photo Scavenger hunt - the joys of Digital Cameras!

We had fun. They took some great shots. Then it hit me - my kids are always sneaking off with my camera and taking photos on the sly... why not give them permission and teach them how to do it well??

 

KidsClick as a competition is still in its formation...

The winner(s) of one competition pick the winners of the next competition.
The problem has been that we are limited to kids whose mothers blog... because photos need to be posted on a blog and linked up on mine.

So yesterday I started this Site: http://kidsclickfun.com/ dedicated to KidsClick.

Now anyone can join in, even if you're not a blogger. Your kids can take photos and email them to me: greatfun4kids@live.com

Then I will post them for you on the KidsClick site and link them up to the competition.

As well as all the photos from young photographers, we will also post up photography tips on the KidsClick site  to help your kids take better pictures.

Some lovely photographers I know have agreed to join in and help out by giving tips; if you're a keen photographer and would like to contribute to the KidsClick sit, let me know! Also, if you have a great idea for some future themes, post me a comment, with your ideas :)

This weeks' theme: "YUCK!" finishes on Tuesday 8th June... so if your kids are bored this weekend, get them out and about hunting for icky things to photograph - then email them to me!

KidsClick "YUCK" Extended

And organising kids to take photos of yucky things can be very time consuming...
I get that!

So I am extending KidsClick for another week. To give you time.
To get the kids taking yucky photos and posting them and linking up...

I love the idea of getting kids out taking photos and learning to be better photo-takers. Not that I'm any expert, but still.

The problem with kidsclick at the moment is that only kids whose mummies BLOG can join. And even my own kids can't join in because I'd be linking up to my blog!

KidsClick Results

Next Week's Theme: "YUCK!" (link up here)

Our first KidsClick linky photo competition for kids was a success. By that I mean that I actually had some entries. I was worried for a little bit - kept seeing that little Linky Message at the bottom of the post: "0 ENTRIES" for a couple of days.

But then one by one the kids got clicking and started joining in, and we ended up with twelve links on the theme of "I LOVE..."  Not a bad start!

Apparently the kids had lots of fun  doing it - which is the whole point after all!
We actually have two winners - I let my kids pick one each. There was no way I'd get them to agree on one best photo. Especially when it was hard enough picking just one! It was close I tell ya.

Now lets dim the lights and get to the results....


Winner #1
Miss Fab was first up. She looked carefully at all the entries. "Oooh! The mouse! Oooh! The baby! Ooo those girly things, those are cool...The dog! The dog!"

Pick one, I told her. So after much deliberation she came up with:

A worthy choice and one of my favourites too - such a great photo, as well as cute!

Dash managed to drag himself away from watching football to check out the entries. He was impressed, but unlike Miss Fab, he knew his choice almost immediately.
