Every Saturday we will be sharing with you our ideas for family movie nights. Movie reviews and fun theme night ideas.
Our Super-Cool-Fab Review Team...
This may be nearly twenty years old but the kids absolutely loved it. They loved the action, the silly slapstick humour and the fact that it was a real Basketball star in the movie. And Looney Tunes. Which kid doesn't get a kick out of Looney Tunes?
I stumbled across this one on Fatso's "Family Comedy" list*, and thought, hey that might be OK.
Then I left it with the babysitter and went out for the night to watch Les Miserables at the Lido with my Hot Date.
This morning I woke up to the sound of Space Jam being played again (the sure sign of a good movie night is the kids wanting to watch it again in the morning).
I made myself a cuppa and settled on the couch to watch this crusty old movie with my kids first thing on a Saturday morning. And was pleasantly surprised. I got to relive the Nineties and the Dream Team's NBA heyday. (All basketball players star as themselves).
There was no swearing. No hanky panky (apart from Bugs getting a smooch off a cartoon bunny). Nothing dodgey at all.
Sometimes the oldies really are goodies. No complaints here.
*FATSO TIP: When picking movies I always look for the ones with "GN" - "Get Now". They get sent out to you the very next day.
Here's what our experts have to say about Space Jam...
Dash. B. Cool: "It was cool and it was funny. I liked the basketball and Michael Jordan and I liked that the cartoons and people were in the movie at the same time."
Dash scores this movie's "coolness" as: ♥♥♥♥♥
Foxy Fab: "I liked it. My funniest part was at the end when the man (Bill Murray) said That could have been me and the other man said, Give it up; Its Over. He thought he could be a basketball player but he couldn't. It was all funny. I liked it all. Out of all the cartoon and live action movies which I've watched (can't remember which ones) I'd do Space Jam as my favourite."
Foxy rates this movie's "fabness" as: ♥♥♥♥♥
Super Scrag: "It was nice and funny. The part when they were playing basketball was cool; the rabbit (Bugs Bunny) was funny. It was exciting to watch the basketball."
SuperScrag scores this movie's "super-ness" as: ♥♥♥♥♥♥

Space Jam Theme Fun (to Make Your Movie Night even more Super-Cool-Fab)
Basketball, aliens and popcorn. Plenty of fun to be had here for a theme night.
It would take next to no effort to turn a simple movie night into a bit of Space Jam Theme Fun.
- a family game of basketball, pre-movie
- concession-stand style treats: popcorn, hotdogs, soda
- some alien cupcakes
- then settle down and roll the movie for a cute retro family movie night...
