Mrs Readalot's Bloggy Bookclub

Little Miss Readalot, age 7
Mrs Readalot has a great plan for her bloggy Bookclub. She called for ideas and now thanks to her lovely bookloving friend, Helen, Mrs Readalot has a new and much-better plan.

One which will get all you book-reading blogoholics excited because... it involves a linky! And you KNOW how much we bloggers love a good linky!

So Helen's suggestion was this: Mrs Readalot announce at the beginning of the month which book she will be reviewing at the end of the month.

Fellow bookworms can either get hold of their own copy of the same book and read along with Mrs Readalot, or they choose their own book(s) to read... and review.

Young Miss Readalot and the Perm, age 19

But wait there's more.
Book Club members will get a chance to host the linky! A different blog each month - thereby creating more traffic for your blog (who doesn't like that?) and sharing the blog love around.

At the end of the month Mrs Readalot will post her own review and attach a link to this month's Book Club Host and announce the following Month's Book Choice.

Then all the lovely bloggers who have managed to read a book will post a review on their blogs too and then link up their posts over at the linky host.
At which point we all visit each other's blogs, read each others reviews and leave comments with our thoughts and opinions. Wahoo.

But Mrs Readalot, I hear you say. I am much too busy to read. I have a life - fifteen children, six cats and a guinea pig. I spend my afternoons playing taxicab and my evenings darning socks. Your Book Club sounds fun and all but where would I find the time??

Mrs Readalot would love you to join in with her Book Club fun. So she gently suggests that maybe you could read some kids books to your darlings? And then write a post about the best ones? Isn't that kind of multi-tasking - reading and mummying all at once? Just a thought.

So that's how the Book Club runs

Mrs Readalot is Cool

  2. I'm IN Mrs Readalot! Have been wanting to read Water for Elephants for ages. :) Lots of love to you xo (PS I am so sorry we didn't get to meet up...did you read about all the drama on my blog? No internet and tummy bugs and dislocated kneecaps...I was a mess. :( Totally bummed. Next time I'm in NZ I'm descending on your house with gluten free goodies so we can have a good catch up. I'm sincerely sorry! xo)

  6. What a fun idea! I will give this a try. I don't know that I will read Water for Elephants, but I will definitely read something. I just don't know what, yet. We'll see what happens. It could even wind up being The Cat in the Hat.

  7. Great idea. I need socialness around reading! Too busy for a library book club, this sounds feasible! Not sure what book I'm doing yet, need to get to the library for inspiration as at the moment I'm stuck re-reading old favorites.

  9. Hey Simoney, thanks for your email. This does sound great and I would love to be a part of it. I've never hosted link parties before, so can I just link up my review this month and then take it from there? I'm sure I'll be in to hosting a linky in the future, it's sound too much like a party to miss out. Nici.

  10. I started reading "Water for Elephants" today. I am SO glad you recommended it and started this book club. I would not have chosen the book on my own, but I'm loving it so far.

Dumb question for you: Can I do two reviews in one month? There is a book that was brought to mind by this book.

Come join me on my journey to figuring out a healthy and happy life!

  11. I knew it! We are sisters by birth, separated by the sea. I, TOO, am an avid reader, and thrilled with the idea of a bloggy book club! I'm a little late with May's book (although it is on my list of must reads anyway) but look forward to June's book!!

  15. I have just recently started a non-bloggy book club with some friends but I was thinking of including my reviews on my blog too. I would love to join up with you guys when I can!

Our book club just finished The 10pm Question by Kate de Goldi and now we are reading The Secret Lives of Dresses by Erin McKean.

Can I please be a host sometime? Thanks :-)
