Musical Beds (a game for five players)

This game is played in Teams, Kids vs. Parents.
The Object of the game is to confuse the heck out of the Parents Team and send them spinning into a sleep deprived haze.

How the game is played...

Everybody starts off in their own beds.

During the night the bed-moving begins when one or more players:
  • has a bad dream
  • falls out of bed
  • loses their dummy
  • wets the bed
  • cries in a loud voice threatening to wake all other players
Players can also use a stealth approach and just sneak into the Parents Team's bed while they are sleeping. A successful stealth raid means the parents forfeit a good nights sleep without even realising it.

 In the morning if the Parents are alone in their bed with no children present, they are declared the winners. {The statistical likelihood of this occurring diminishes with each additional child added to the family.}

If however, morning comes and there are...
  • one or more children wriggled in between the parents
  • one or more parents sleeping in a child's bed (or on the couch)
...then the Kids Team is declared the winner. Bonus points for five in the bed.

The prize is two grumpy parents and a packet of short fuses.

Do you ever play this fun game at your house??

Ha, ha! Sorry I shouldn't laugh, but you write so well and with such humour! Sometimes I think we should scrap sleeping in separate bedrooms and all bunk in one room with the floor covered in mattresses - and sometimes we do just that!

Yep - we play our own version of that game where the kids team gets bonus points if they can get the parents out of bed for the day before 6am!! We have slowed the surprise attacks by putting a safety gate over the kids bedroom door...sometimes the kids forget its there and donk into it - parents team giggle at this (bad parenting but they are only little donks and no pain involved, honest) x

How many points for the parent team when they push the kids right outta bed? (in a deep sleepy haze of course ;) *cough* it's been known to happen

haha - we haven't played that game for ages but the last two night the kids have one with a sneaky little girl creeping into our beds. Both parents wake with sore backs!

Haha! too funny. Fortunately we have only one who plays this game and lately she is being really good at staying in her own bed. To solve this issue we recently purchased a king size bed and now when everyone piles in (in the morning) we can play Chinese whispers lol!!

giggle. We tend to play musical beds. I have no idea how we are going to cope when Spud arrives and the spare room and bed will be gone.

We know this game all too well. Not sure if I've had a full nights sleep in 6.5 years..... we now have a king sized bed, seems to have helped somewhat.....

It's been a while since we've played this game around here. The big mystery for us is finding where all the kids ended up after we went to bed... another brother's room, on the couch in the living room, etc. I hate that they stay up after I do, but I can't hang with them any more.

I woke up one morning in my daughter's bottom bunk, only to look up and see my husband's foot hanging over the rail of the top bunk. Parents 0 - Kids 1. Grrrr. Meredy xo.

Classic post. We are playing this game nightly in our house, it's two versus two and us parents are definitely the losers.

Or should I say, mama is. Dad sleeps through without a care. I usually wind up being pushed to the very edge of the bed by whatever boys plus papa have taken up the rest of the space. Sleep? What sleep?

Oh how I HATE this game. Thankfully one is still in a crib and can't get out, unless he wakes up screaming and bawling.

Cute post, I'll be back to read some more.

Oh man, been playing that game for the last two nights. Wet nappies, bad dreams and me and O's squashed into one corner of the bed while the child/children take over. NOT fun. Mostly I'm too tired/lazy to get up and place them back in bed again.

Hi Simone, this post made me laugh out loud. And i'm in a foul mood, so that's really saying something! Is it double points for a parent sleeping on the floor?

Ugh. We are playing this game at our house, too! Q sneaks into our room and sleeps under the chaise for a while then infiltrates the bed from the foot. Do the parents lose all of their points if the kid screams upon removal from the parental bed?
