Family Movie Night: Tangled

Every Saturday we will be sharing with you our ideas for family movie nights. Movie reviews and fun theme night ideas.

Our Super-Cool-Fab Review Team...

Our crack team of expert Movie Reviewers are this week reviewing Tangled.

OK you've probably all seen it. It's most likely old news to you. But I'm going away this weekend and I have to do my Fatso post before I go, and well, we haven't had a movie in a while what with all the parties and whatnot, so I'm falling back on a classic and hoping that you'll thanks me for it anyway. Plus, since I did a Tangled Birthday Party for Miss fab a couple of years ago, I have loads of great ideas to share with you for a theme night! See, it might be a movie you've all seen, but have you ever had a Tangled THEME night? Probably not.

Movie Plot Summary: Rapunzel is the main character, the girl in a tower whose magical hair keeps her captor, Gothel, young. Kidnapped as a baby, she doesn't know she's a princess; all she knows of life is her tower and the reality that Gothel has spun for her. Rapunzel is about to turn 18 and her wish is to get up close and personal with the floating lights that appear each year on her birthday. Meanwhile a fleeing rogue seeks refuge in Rapunzel's castle and she convinces him to take her to see the floating lights. The film is fast-paced and action packed, full of laughs and great songs. It's also visually beautiful - one of my favourite animated Disney movies ever.

Very young children might be scared or confused by Gothel - who appears to be a loving mother but is in fact the person who stole Rapunzel from her parents. You might need to explain or pre-warn young children about this. Apart from that... Rapunzel is an all round winner and an instant classic. Popular with boys for its action and laughs, as much as with girls for the romance and all that HAIR...

Here's what our experts have to say about Tangled...

Dash. B. Cool: "It's pretty good for a girls movie. There's not too much kissing and it's pretty funny. I don't mind watching it, it's not bad at all."

Dash scores this movie's "coolness" as:

Foxy Fab: "I love this movie! She (Rapunzel) is so cool and funny and I like Flynn who is really called Eugene... and the horse! The funniest bit is "I have a dream" cos the people singing are funny. I had a Tangled party when i turned 7 and it was one of my best parties ever."

Foxy rates this movie's "fabness" as:

Super Scrag: "I like Tangled too."

Ideas to Make Your "Tangled" Movie Night even more Super-Cool-Fab...

The ideas for a Tangled theme night are endless because the movie is rich with theme ideas.

  • towers
  • lanterns
  • hair
  • campouts
  • princesses
  • rogues
The list could go on and on. Here are the posts from our Tangled party, filled with how-to's and decorating ideas. We managed to find some "sky lanterns" and let them off just like in the movie - magical!
So, plan a Tangled theme night, invite some friends, make a donut tower, do each other's hair, light/make some lanterns... enjoy!
